Free Programme Offers Fresh Hope for Those Ready to Quit Smoking This April

The word STOP in wooden letters next to a pack of cigarettes, highlighting the call to quit smoking.

If you have been thinking about how to quit smoking, this April could be the turning point. A free, seven-week group programme is now open for registration, and the first session starts on 1 April.

MHealthy’s Tobacco Consultation Service (TCS) has partnered with the American Lung Association to offer Freedom From Smoking®. The programme gives participants real options, practical resources, and the kind of support that makes a genuine difference.

A Structured Plan to Quit Smoking

The virtual group runs every Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., starting 1 April through to 13 May. Sessions are held via Zoom. Signing up before the first session is strongly encouraged to get the full experience.

Over seven weeks, the programme walks participants through everything they need. That includes how to know when they are truly ready to quit smoking, which FDA-approved cessation medications can improve their chances, and what lifestyle changes make the process more manageable. Sessions also cover preparing for a quit date, coping with stress, avoiding weight gain, and building a new self-image as a non-smoker.

According to the NHS, smokers who use professional support are up to three times more likely to stop smoking successfully compared to those who try alone.

Is This Stop Smoking Programme Right for You?

It is worth asking yourself a few honest questions before dismissing the idea:

  • Do you want to quit?
  • Is quitting a priority for you right now?
  • Have you tried to stop smoking before?
  • Do you want to improve your health and your family’s health too?
  • Do you want to feel better and more in control of your life?
  • Are you ready to try, even though it may be tough?

If you answered yes to even one of those, Freedom From Smoking® was built with you in mind.

Why Professional Support Makes a Difference

Going it alone rarely works long term. The Freedom From Smoking® model combines group accountability with expert-led sessions. Every week builds on the last, so participants arrive at their quit day prepared rather than guessing.

For those who prefer a one-to-one setting, MHealthy’s Tobacco Consultation Service offers free personal support from tobacco treatment specialists. They help with planning a quit date, understanding what nicotine withdrawal will feel like, and staying motivated through the harder days.

Both options are free. Both are designed around the same goal: helping people stop smoking for good. Have questions? Call (734) 998-6222.
