Paul Sculfor, Iconic British Supermodel, Reflects on Addiction, Recovery, and 20 Years of Sobriety

Former supermodel Paul Sculfor has shared a candid account of his battle with addiction during the heights of his career and his inspiring 20-year journey of sobriety. Known for his work with top brands like Armani and Versace and high-profile relationships with A-listers like Cameron Diaz, Sculfor revealed the darker side of his modelling glory days.

The pressures of the industry, coupled with the normalisation of drugs and alcohol on shoots, led Sculfor down a destructive path. What began as social drinking escalated into regular substance abuse, impacting his health, relationships, and self-esteem. He recounted shocking moments, such as sprinkling ecstasy over his breakfast and collapsing on a flight due to his drug habits.

By his early 30s, he reached breaking point, suffering panic attacks, depression, and overwhelming feelings of hopelessness. Determined to rebuild his life, Sculfor entered rehab and embraced a 12-step programme. He committed fully to recovery, taking a year off work and seeking professional support to overcome his dependencies.

Now sober for over two decades, Sculfor has transformed his life. He has returned to a thriving career and built a fulfilling personal life with his partner Federica Amati and their two daughters. Passionate about helping others, Paul co-founded the Stride Foundation to support those battling addiction and launched the This is Powerful podcast to inspire hope and change.

Sculfor’s message to those facing addiction is simple yet profound – recovery is possible. With honesty, support, and determination, anyone can take back control and build a brighter future.
