New Jersey cannabis officials have issued a recall for the “Green Joy” marijuana product after testing revealed contamination with bugs and hair. The Cannabis Regulatory Commission initiated an investigation following a complaint on July 18, which led to the discovery that 12 out of 15 samples from one dispensary contained insects, and one appeared to contain human hair. “Green Joy,” cultivated and sold by Green Medicine NJ, was found in violation of state regulations requiring cannabis products to be free of foreign matter like dirt and debris.
Green Medicine NJ has been ordered to immediately recall the affected batches of “Green Joy,” which are sold both as wholesale flower and pre-rolls in various packaging. The commission continues to perform random tests at facilities connected to the company. Consumers are advised to check batch and lot numbers on the commission’s website and return any affected products to the point of purchase for a full refund.
