San Bernardino County authorities have seized a staggering 51 truckloads of marijuana in a major drug bust in Oak Hills. Acting on a search warrant, deputies uncovered over 3,000 trash bags filled with marijuana inside a massive metal building on a five-acre property along Honeyhill Road. The bags, stacked up to 12 feet high and weighing between 30 to 50 pounds each, contained an estimated 90,000 pounds of cannabis, valued at over $100 million.
The operation, involving the Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement team, alongside San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and California Fish and Wildlife, took two days to fully clear the site. Despite the enormous haul, no arrests have been made yet, and investigations are ongoing as authorities work to unearth those responsible for the illicit operation. According to Sgt. Rich Debevec of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team, “Mostly what we deal with are either Mexican nationals or Chinese nationals as our two largest groups of people that we deal with,” estimating that “85% are non-citizens”. This big drug bust shows how hard it is for authorities to stop illegal cannabis businesses in California, even though marijuana is legal there. It also shows how large these secret operations are and the need to enforce rules and stop organised crime.
