The recent legalisation of certain drugs has inadvertently led to a spike in the misuse of xylazine, an animal sedative known as “tranq.” Initially intended for veterinary use, this drug is now being illicitly mixed with fentanyl and other opioids, resulting in severe health consequences and a surge in overdose deaths. Tighter regulations and preventive measures are essential to curb this alarming trend.
