TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Authorities have announced the largest Florida vape seizure in state history. The operation removed over 2,183 illegal products from shops across the region.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier revealed the results on Friday. The multi-agency task force confiscated illegal vaping devices, nitrous oxide canisters and related drug paraphernalia during coordinated raids.

Record-Breaking Florida Vape Seizure Operation

The joint operation brought together multiple state agencies. The Enforcement Unit of the Florida Attorney General’s Office worked with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Local law enforcement also participated.

“These businesses are knowingly selling illegal products that are designed to attract children and evade Florida law,” Attorney General Uthmeier stated. He added a warning: “This record-breaking seizure sends a clear message: if you profit off addiction, deception, and dangerous substances, we will find you and shut you down.”

Four Task Force Operations Target Illegal Vape

The task force conducted four separate operations. Each focused on vape shops suspected of violating state regulations. FDACS officials identified thousands of products during regulatory inspections. These products failed to meet legal requirements.

The confiscated items violated multiple Florida statutes. Violations included improper container and labelling standards. Many lacked child-resistant packaging. Unlawful advertising practices were also uncovered. These measures exist to protect young people.

Illegal Vape Removal Uncovers Additional Contraband

The illegal vape removal operation revealed more than just vaping products. Authorities discovered nitrous oxide items, commonly called “laughing gas”. Some retail locations were selling these alongside vaping devices.

This enforcement builds on the Vape Free Florida Fund. Attorney General Uthmeier established it in March 2025. The fund supports enforcement of state nicotine and vaping regulations. It provides resources for operations like this confiscation.

Protecting Minors from Dangerous Products

Officials highlight specific risks to minors. The seized products featured packaging that could appeal to younger consumers. Safety features were missing. Child-resistant containers were absent. This combination raised serious concerns.

The multi-agency approach shows Florida’s commitment to retailer compliance. Authorities plan similar operations as ongoing enforcement continues.
