A Florida elementary school principal, Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, faces legal scrutiny after allegedly hosting an underage party involving alcohol, marijuana, and over 100 students at her Cocoa Beach home. Reports suggest the party led to alcohol-fuelled fights, a DUI charge against a student, and a health emergency for a juvenile who required medical attention. Hill-Brodigan, the principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary, has been placed on administrative leave and was arrested on charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of minors.
According to an arrest affidavit, students claimed these gatherings occurred monthly and were advertised on Snapchat. On the night in question, police discovered alcohol readily available in coolers and observed disturbing incidents, including a masked individual brandishing a gun and intoxicated teenagers behind the wheel. One driver was caught with a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
Hill-Brodigan allegedly allowed students to help prepare for the gathering and ignored the evident underage drinking. Adding to the controversy, a teacher from the same school, Karly Anderson, was also arrested on similar charges after reportedly appearing intoxicated and interfering with paramedics aiding a sick boy.
Local leaders, including Cocoa Beach’s mayor, expressed disappointment, citing the incident as a breach of trust and a failure in leadership. The Brevard Public Schools Superintendent emphasised the importance of accountability and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement. Investigations are ongoing.
