The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have issued warnings to five companies for selling copycat food products containing delta-8 THC, a psychoactive cannabinoid from the Cannabis sativa plant. These products mimic popular snacks like Froot Loops and Chips Ahoy!, raising concerns about accidental ingestion by children and unsuspecting adults. The agencies cited inadequate labelling and the potential for impurities in the manufacturing process as significant risks.

The FDA and FTC have given the companies 15 working days to respond with plans to address these violations and prevent future occurrences. Legal action may follow if the companies fail to comply. This move is part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers from illegally marketed delta-8 THC products, which have been linked to serious adverse effects, including hospitalisations and one reported death among children.
