EU and Chile Unite to Combat Drug Challenges Through New Partnership

The European Union and Chile have strengthened their collaboration in tackling drug-related challenges with a new Working Arrangement signed between the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) and Chile’s Servicio Nacional para la Prevención y Rehabilitación del Consumo de Drogas y Alcohol (SENDA). The agreement, signed in Santiago by EUDA Executive Director Alexis Goosdeel and SENDA National Director Natalia Riffo Alonso, highlights a shared commitment to combating drug problems and builds on previous cooperation under the COPOLAD III programme.

The partnership aims to enhance Chile’s drug information system and National Drug Observatory to improve policy-making and response measures. It will also include exchanging expertise on new psychoactive substances, establishing a national early-warning system, and sharing best practices in health and social responses to drug issues.

This agreement supports the EU’s readiness to face evolving drug-related threats, offering both sides valuable insights into emerging challenges. With Chile an active participant in the COPOLAD III initiative, the collaboration marks a significant step in driving innovative and effective approaches to addressing the global drug problem.
