England is considering a new law that could effectively ban alcohol consumption for drivers, following data indicating a surge in drink-driving fatalities to a 13-year high. The Department for Transport reports 280 deaths and 6,400 injuries in drink-driving incidents in 2022. Rod Dennis from RAC expressed concern over the return to late 1980s fatality levels, while AA president Edmund King highlighted the ease with which some drivers still choose to drink and drive.

In response to these statistics, there is a growing push for non-alcoholic alternatives, with 80% of drivers open to choosing zero per cent alcohol options.
