However, the FDA considers kratom to carry addiction risks and significant health dangers, likening it to substances such as cocaine and heroin.

City Council Member Josh Moe notes the lack of adequate information to determine kratom’s medical efficacy or potential harm, reflecting the divided opinions on its use and regulation.
