Canada Recalls Cannabis Products Over Intoxication Risks

Several cannabis oils and softgels are being recalled across Canada due to concerns over potential intoxication arising from labelling errors. Health Canada has expanded its recall to include two additional brands and eight new lots, bringing the total to 14 lots affected. Products like iNaturally Organic Inc’s Emprise CBN+CBD 50 mg softgels and NuLeaf Naturals 1800 mg full spectrum hemp oils and softgels are among those recalled. More than 17,000 units were sold in provinces including Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, as well as to medical clients. Reports indicate that these products contain significant levels of the intoxicating cannabinoids hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which were not accurately reflected on the labels.

Consumers are being urged to stop using these products immediately, as accidental consumption of high levels of THC and HHC can lead to cannabis poisoning. Symptoms of poisoning may include chest pain, rapid heartbeat, and severe anxiety, potentially requiring hospitalisation. Health Canada has received multiple adverse reaction reports related to these products, emphasising the importance of accurate labelling to enable informed decisions by consumers. The recall aims to prevent further incidents and ensure consumer safety across the country.
