British holidaymakers are being cautioned about the potential legal risks of carrying certain prescription drugs while travelling abroad. Well Pharmacy has highlighted that common medications, including opioids like OxyContin, Vicodin, morphine, and codeine, are banned in over 25 countries, including Germany and Australia. Furthermore, the United Arab Emirates maintains a zero-tolerance policy on various over-the-counter medications, such as temazepam, which could result in jail time for unsuspecting travellers.

In India, fixed-dose combinations that include amoxicillin and paracetamol are prohibited, with violators facing up to six months in jail and fines. Greece also enforces strict rules on medication, allowing only up to five different prescribed medicines for personal use, with no more than two boxes each. As millions of Brits prepare for their summer holidays, it’s crucial they understand the legality of their medications in their destination countries to avoid severe penalties.
